How we research
Every guide begins with a real reader question and is researched against primary sources: USDA, RHS, university extension offices (Cornell, UC ANR, Texas A&M, Iowa State, etc.), and manufacturer documentation for product claims.
How we write
Guides follow an answer-first structure: the direct answer in the first paragraph, then detailed explanation, step-by-step instructions where applicable, a FAQ, and a sources list. Drafting may be assisted by AI tools, but every published article is reviewed and edited by a person before publishing.
How we test products
Buying guides reflect hands-on use, manufacturer documentation review, and synthesis of independent reviews. We disclose affiliate relationships and never accept payment to recommend a specific product.
How we update
Seasonal and product guides are reviewed at least once per year. The "Updated" date on every article reflects the last substantive edit. If something is wrong, tell us — we re-check within a week.
Corrections
We correct errors of fact promptly and add an "Updated" note when the change is material.
Author credentials
Authors and reviewers are listed by name with their relevant credentials (horticulturist, master gardener, licensed contractor, designer, etc.). Author pages link from every byline.
